Let it begin!

No matter what the date on this blog says, it is Tuesday, June 29th! It was a beautiful day to begin our journey. We decided that, in order to make this trip nicely rounded out, we would start by putting our feet in the Atlantic Ocean and travel all the way to put our feet in the Pacific Ocean. Naturally, that meant that we had to spend the day on Cape Cod in the middle of moving week. We already knew that we didn’t have any movers and would have to pack up a second storage unit ourselves. So, on Tuesday morning we got up early, dropped Otis off for his last two-night sleepover at Ruff House (his daycare) and headed out to Orleans. We went to our favorite beach, Nausett. It was hot and sunny, a perfect day for cooling off in the 56° water. We had some nice, big waves to encourage us to get in quickly and to jump in after we managed to get wet. After our day at the beach, we followed up with clam chowder for dinner at Arnold’s Clam Shack and then went on a hunt for Cuffee’s, our favorite cheap t-shirt place. When we got there, though, the building was for sale and we had to drive all the way to Dennis to pick out our annual selection of Cape Cod apparel. Luckily, there is a Sundae School in Dennis as well and we managed to have our favorite sundaes for dessert! Finally, we ended up with a short walk and photo shoot at a beach in Dennis so we could have the required “toes in the Atlantic” documentation. Then we headed off into the sunset (literally!) to get back and spend Wednesday and Thursday packing and preparing to leave.
