Just an update

Well we have settled into the hotel here. We even went grocery shopping at the commissary this morning. That worked pretty well and we were able to get almost everything we wanted. Then, in the hotel kitchenette (which is about the least appealing kitchen to use EVER!), I prepared us a pesto/brown rice/beans/veggies meal. We also bought some of those steamer plastic bags for the microwave and filled them with chicken breast, veggies, and some herbs and spices. Those we will cook for dinner. We both feel relieved to be back to the healthy food. I'm going to make some hummus tonight, too, especially if we can find some dill to use. Dill seems to be hard to find/buy. I did manage to find some dill seeds at home right before we moved, but there wasn't any today. However, Rich's sponsor told us about a health food grocery story along the lines of Whole Foods or Trader Joe's that we're going to check out tonight so maybe I can find some there.

We also started looking for a rental house today. We've found two that look pretty good on paper, both with two beds and one bath. We saw the first this morning and it was a nice little house. Pretty wood floors and a reasonable kitchen, but very little storage. I have higher hopes for the one we're seeing this afternoon because it's more in the woods with a fenced yard. I also found a job to apply for that is for a middle school band director. It's only three days a week so I'll have to see what it's all about but I'm going to fill out the application because it's the only actual music teaching job out here right now! We're also going to join a community trombone choir that meets on Wednesday nights. I haven't played the trombone in a loooong time, but I'm sure it'll come back to me...hopefully better than riding a bike did! Ok, off to deal with this application. Oh, if you are leaving comments on my posts, I am going in and responding to them, just so you know! It's good to hear from so many of you and I'm glad everyone seems to be having a nice summer!
