Coming home

We have officially arrived in Washington. It was a pretty easy driving day and it's been a blur of activity ever since. Rich's sponsor, Greg, met us at the Navy Lodge and gave us a tour of the base. Then we dragged all the stuff in from the car so we could have it in the hotel room. This is interesting because I don't know if we'll be here for one night or nine! But, the stuff is in and that's how it is. Greg invited us to a cookout tonight and Rich has gone to that to meet some of the other people in the band who didn't leave town on leave. I wasn't feeling up to it tonight (it's been a LONG week!) so Otis and I stayed in the hotel room. I organized all of our stuff into various areas so we can function here for as long as necessary and he chewed up a pen. Then he took a nap in his crate and I made a list of apartments for us to check out tomorrow. We will also grocery shop tomorrow because it is time to be back to healthy, home cooked food. Woohoo, hummus and pesto here we come! It's surprising how much I missed them! ( We stopped at a rest stop with a market in the middle of Idaho the other day and I asked if they had any hummus. The girl looked at me blankly and said "hum-what?" I forgot to put that in my Idaho blog but it was pretty funny. ) Washington looks like New England except for the great, big pine trees. Well, that and the beautiful Mount Rainier. I wasn't able to get a good picture but I'm sure I will soon!
I've decided to keep posting for as long as I have something marginally interesting to say. I love to read the comments and I'm trying to respond to all! Oh and Granny, Rich and I found exactly the same hair clippers at a Walgreens in Mitchell, South Dakota, and we gave him a hair cut two nights ago. It was fun and I think we did a good job!

  1. Glad to hear you made it safely! Hope your lodging is much better than what Nate and I stayed in with the animals!! If you were willing to unpack and get comfortable, I'm assuming it was much better than ours. I did not want to unpack, as soon as the house was ready I wanted our luggage to be ready!!

Good luck on the apartment hunt! I hope you find something perfect!! And I must say I'm jealous that Rich's sponsor met up with you guys. I think Nate heard from his sponsor once before we moved!

  3. Hey Susie, good to hear from you! Our lodging is actually great, I can't complain! We're going to see two houses for rent tomorrow, which we're excited about! Our sponsor has been WONDERFUL, driving us around all day, took us to all the offices we needed to go to, took us out to lunch... We're very lucky! Holly, I miss you too and so far so good with Washington!

  4. I hope you do keep posting. I think you'll find it's addictive to keep a blog. Plus, it saves you telling everyone the same story - and it keeps us entertained and living vicariously through you. I'm glad your sponsor is so helpful. That must make a tremendous difference.
